Nobody got the result or score correct this match, but Constant Weeder took all the points with a correct goal/assist combo and the wild prediction of using satellite images to avoid lens glare. Poor Daniel got skunked. But there’s always next time, and next time is not far off.

The Thorns close out the seeding portion of the tournament with a match against OL Reign on Monday, the 13th at 9:30 am. The Reign finally scored a goal and it was enough for a win. This leaves the Thorns facing the Wooden Spoon alongside Chicago (who face Utah) – not a good place to be.

    How this works:

Add a comment to this post. In the comment title put your predicted result, for example 3-1 Thorns.
In the body of your comment, start with the goals and assists, like so:
    Charley (Klingenberg)
    Sinclair (Free kick)
    Weaver (Unassisted)
    Taylor (PK)

Next, name the first yellow card recipient: First yellow to Long.
Then reds, if any. (NOTE: no points awarded for correctly calling a red-card-free match, so take a guess.) Ally Long can’t help herself as she takes a swipe at Horan and then gives the ref enough backtalk that she’s sent off.
Make your fun prediction: Since OL Reign is the home team, they play “Take Me Out To The Ballpark” instead of the national anthem.

    Scoring:
    · Correct score: 5 points
    · Correct result (draw/win/loss): 3 points
    · Each clean sheet: 2 points
    · Each goal-scorer: 1 point
    · Each FK/PK/assist/lack of assist: 1 point
    · Goal/assist bonus: 1 point
    · Player with the first yellow card of the match: 1 point
    · Each player with a red card: 1 point (Cannot earn points for predicting 0 red cards)
    · Most recommended/most outrageously accurate prediction: 2 points

Some ground rules and explanations/clarifications (the fine print):
Comments must be posted before kickoff, but you can edit or amend an earlier prediction right up to the starting whistle.
Keep your scoreline predictions realistic. No crazy scores just to pad out your odds of getting goals and assists.
The goal/assist bonus is an additional point if you predict the correct scorer and assistant on the same goal, for example, you say Reynolds scores from a Boureille assist and that is exactly what happens. P.S. if you say exactly that, and it happens, I will hunt you down and buy you a beer!
Be clear whether you think a goal will be unassisted, assisted, or from a PK/FK. Unassisted = no assist, run of play; Assisted = player who got the assist; PK/FK = not in run of play. For the purposes of this thread, Penalty Kick and Free Kick are the same thing. No entry means unassisted.

Have fun, tell your friends, let me know if you have any questions or if I screw up your score.

Hate to say this, but with three goals over 540 minutes this one looks like a scoreless draw

    YC Salem
    RC Momoki

Lindsey Horan comes closest to breaking the deadlock with a rasping header in the 87th minute that sends former Thorn Michelle Betos sprawling and draws an enraged Coach Benstiti to the touchline.

“You are steel a fat peeg, ‘Oran!” he snarls, at which point Horan strolls to the sideline, remarks to the fourth official “I learned this in France, too, and I’ve been waiting for years to use it on this frog-eating chancre…” and headbutts the Frenchman senseless.

    Thorns 2-1 Reign

    Sinclair PK
    Weaver (Horan)
    Balcer (Cruz)

    YC: Smith
    RC: White

Cunningly disguised as an express coffee courier wearing an 801 Coffee Roasters mask, Sonnett sneaks into Zions Bank so that she can join Horan in photobombing Parsons’ post-game interview. The photobomb involves an “I’m a little teapot” type pantomime, except of course it’s a coffee pot.

    1-1

    Balcer
    Weaver (Horan)

    FW Salem
    RC Balcer

After scoring a goal Balcer pulls a Suarez and bites Menges. This leads to a NWSL suspension after the match for the remaining tournament. Just like all of Suarez’s bites Balcer is then traded to a new European team after the tournament is over.
