There are a lot of scams out there. We’ve written about many of them in the past, including some of the more well known ones: the “unfair competition” law suit, the “free trial” scam, and others. The concept of a scam is different from an actual scam: a scam is an attempt to take advantage of someone who is gullible. It involves tricks or other tactics that make things appear as if they are happening to someone else and not to you.
This is not always a bad thing; sometimes you may want to do something that sounds like it has been done by someone else and make it appear as if they had done it (e.g., a person deliberately claiming themselves in online ads, or selling you things that sound like they could be useful). There are many forms of scams and most are not actually illegal or unethical at all – but that doesn’t mean they don’t have consequences. Virginia karaoke equipment
A good rule of thumb is this: if you wouldn’t do something like this yourself, you probably shouldn’t be doing it for someone else either (so don’t do it). If you do something like this for someone else, your actions may get caught up in the legal system as well – because even if what you did was legal, there’s no guarantee that what happened to your customer was legal too (and even if it wasn’t illegal – we have no way at all to know).
