The bottom line is that the Vox Media/SB Nation powers-that-be want more “news” features at STF and less of 4,000 words maundering about players and tactics and match reports. I don’t want to write that – farting out 500 words on “Dagny’s coming back to Portland!” would bore the shit out of me – and my “4,000 words maundering on about the Thorns midfield” isn’t what STF wants. It’s just not a good fit.

I will still be a force in being at Stumptown in the comments – I’ve been waived as a columnist but I’m still a fan – and so long as STF is willing to be open to Thorns and Timbers fans I’ll be there.

One minor bit of copy editing: In the section on AMC, you refer to Lydia Williams; I, and probably every other reader, assume you mean Lynn Williams.
